As we keep navigating this crazy modern world, it’s super clear that the skills our students got are like, the keys to unlocking their awesome potential. Destination Imagination (DI), a non-profit – I think it’s amazing – dedicated to inspiring creativity, innovation, and teamwork in students, has been totally leading the charge with its Skills Challenge program. Seriously, it’s awesome!

A Program Born from Passion
The Skills Challenge – it’s just brilliant – was born outta a passion for empowering students to develop the skills they need to succeed in a world that’s always changing. It’s kinda intense, but also really rewarding. With a focus on problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication, the program is designed to help students develop essential skills that’ll help them way beyond school. I wish I had something like this when I was younger!
2024-25 Challenge Previews: A Look at the Exciting New Challenges
The 2024-25 Challenge Previews are out! Six new challenges – I’m so hyped – that are sure to inspire and challenge students. These challenges include:
- Team Film Challenge: Students will get to showcase their creativity and problem-solving skills through a short film. That sounds so fun!
- Early Learning: This challenge is designed for younger students, focusing on developing essential skills such as problem-solving and critical thinking. So cute!
- SkillFire: For students who wanna develop their skills in a specific area, like technology or engineering, this challenge is perfect. Go get ’em!
- Challenge Experience: This challenge is for students who want a more in-depth program focusing on developing essential skills. It’s intense, but worth it!
- Global Finals: The ultimate competition! Students can showcase their skills and compete against other teams from around the world. Good luck everyone!
- Start a Team: For students who want to start their own team and develop their leadership skills, this is it! Leadership is key!
SkillsUSA Partnership: Empowering Students for Success
Destination Imagination has partnered with SkillsUSA, another non-profit that helps students get the skills they need for the workforce. This partnership aims to develop essential skills like leadership, communication, and problem-solving, giving students a huge advantage in the job market. It’s a win-win!
New Rubrics: A Clear Framework for Success
Destination Imagination released new rubrics for the 2024-25 challenges, providing a clearer framework for evaluating student performance. These rubrics are more comprehensive and detailed, giving students and educators a better understanding of what they need to do to succeed. It’s all about clarity!
Professional Development Test: Assessing Competitor Knowledge and Skills
The SkillsUSA Professional Development Test will be pre-conference for national competitors. This test is designed to assess a competitor’s knowledge and skills in a specific area, providing a valuable assessment of their abilities. It’s a tough one, but it’s worth it!
Annual Theme: Igniting Potential
The SkillsUSA competition theme for 2024-25 is: SkillsUSA: Ignite Your Potential. This theme is designed to inspire students to develop their skills and pursue their passions, helping them unlock their full potential. So inspiring!
